I was very happy to find Jane Brocket's The Gentle Art of Knitting in the library this morning. I have followed Jane's blog Yarnstorm (http://yarnstorm.blogs.com/) for some years and I was quick to acquire The Gentle Art of Domesticity when it came out. And look! A number of very nice projects seem to be using garter stitch...hooray!

And with Paul McCartney in the news this week - I have never been a great fan of the Beatles but I do love this song, "Across the Universe" - so gentle, so whimsical.

My mum knitted me a cushion EXACTLY like that round one.

Lucky you - I love them!
I love 'Across the universe' too, and all the delicate things you do. Craftwork using needles fascinate me, I can't do much besides cross-stitching but it satisfies me always. Tendonitis is a scary aliment when it threatens to make tasks difficult and even terminates one's hobby. I really hope that I'll get healed soon.
How's your back though? Must have been hard on you to endure all that painful crap. :/

Thank you :) Tendonitis is really hard - I got it when I was working in a call centre about 15 years ago and it still flares up now and then with all the computer-based work I do. Have you tried wrapping your wrist up with a bandage? I know it sounds simple but that's what the doctor did for me first of all - just to give the wrist some support. My back is still not great - some days are better than others - but I try to keep as active and mobile as I can and make the best of things!
What a nice treasures do you have!! I hope I had more stuff like yours from my grandma.
And thanks a lot for your lovely comment!! Have a nice weekend!
