A light-filled Sunday
Had a lovely Sunday. The weather is finally starting to tip towards milder autumnal conditions and I was finally able to sit in the car for longer than half an hour (with my back issues) so we took the opportunity to go for a drive. A wander around a very pretty country town about two hours from here followed with lots of random inning-and-outing of all the little shops that line the main street, a nice lunch and then a walk around the lake. Lots of photo opportunities but alas my camera seems to have got itself into a bit of a state. It would take only very washed out photos. Some were salvageable - like the one above which I think has almost a yellowy, retro, Polaroid feel to it - but on the whole they were blanched-out catastrophes. Lucky my birthday is on the horizon and my DH has promised me a new camera! But then I read an article in the paper this morning that said we should live life not try to capture each moment in photographs. Something in that. But I still would've like my camera to have worked!! Any ideas on why it might be over-exposing everything?

Down by the sea
My Fellow Traveller and I enjoyed a beautiful change of scenery yesterday, down by the sea. About an hour south of where we live, there's a lovely back beach perfect for walking, beachcombing and just sitting and listening to the eternal roar of the ocean. We had a delicious parcel of fish and chips for lunch too, but some of the locals got wind of it and decided they'd just wait on the bonnet of our car until we decided to share...

Mmmmm...Bread!
Well, we had a very crafty afternoon here at the Wood yesterday. I finally mastered casting on (I know - I'm a bit slow - but hey, now that I'm out of the gate, there's no stopping me!), I spent an hour with the sewing machine and made a couple of cute little herb bags and best of all my dear Fellow Traveller returned to his breadmaking! He used to make bread when we first moved in together and I can remember the odd delicious loaf over the last couple of years but sadly, despite pleas from his bread-loving public, nothing. But, yesterday, two loaves! One was demolished with leftover cottage pie while we watched Stephen Fry in America and there is one left...just waiting in the bread-bin...

A dreaded sunny day...
As the Smiths once sang in "Cemetery Gates": "A dreaded sunny day, so I'll meet you at the cemetery gates." Sunny days are not really dreaded here (they're too rare!) but it was a nice if windy day yesterday when my Fellow Traveler and I took a stroll around the massive old cemetery in the centre of our town. As you can see, I took my camera and attempted a few artsy-fartsy black-and-white shots. Cemeteries really are quite fascinating places to walk around, especially when they have headstones going back a few centuries.

Sunday's Fun Day, Charlie Brown

A lovely winter's Sunday spent cruising around the Yarra Valley with my dear Fellow Traveller. We had lunch in Healesville (an excellent Chicken Parmigiana - is this an exclusively Australian dish, I wonder?), bought some beautifully scenty, fresh apples, mandarins, quinces and pears from a roadside produce store and some other local produce (a very nice pinot noir) from the wine outlet at the TarraWarra Museum of Art (http://www.twma.com.au/) The view above was taken just outside of the Museum. Still lots of evidence of February's awful fires in the area, but heartwarming to see little green shoots on the charred tree trunks - signs that the Wheel continues to turn.
